JH Bands

7th and 8th Grade Bands

The Redwater Junior High Band program is made up of the 7th and 8th grade bands. Students who successfully meet all of the required standards in the 6th grade beginning band enroll in the 7th grade band. The 7th grade band is made up of students in their 2nd year of playing their instrument. Students who meet the standards set for the 7th grade band advance to the 8th grade band which is made up of 3rd year students. These groups have a wide range of musical abilities. As with all of our bands, all of our staff are utilized in sectionals, private lessons, and performance evaluations. Students are assigned materials which will prepare them for success in the Redwater High School Band. These bands serve as a spirit group at pep rallies and some junior high home football games in the fall. Our band students participate in the All-Region Honor Bands, the Redwater Solo and Ensemble Contest, the U.I.L. Concert and Sight Reading Contest, and possibly other festival events. Many of our students attend the Henderson State University Band Camp and are enrolled in private lessons after school.
