Redwater ISD is proud to announce the appointment of Amanda Priestly as the new Director of Special Education for the Central Bowie Shared Services Arrangement (SSA).
Ms. Priestly is a familiar face to many in our district, currently serving as the Assistant Principal at Redwater Elementary. Her transition into this leadership role reflects her deep commitment to student achievement and extensive experience supporting both instructional and specialized learning needs.
She brings a wealth of knowledge and service to the Central Bowie SSA, including:

Leading campus-wide systems focused on academic and behavioral growth

Serving as Campus 504 Coordinator and District Dyslexia Coordinator, ensuring alignment with TEA guidelines

Providing expert intervention as a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and Licensed Dyslexia Therapist

Supporting data-driven decisions through progress monitoring and instructional coaching

Promoting an inclusive, collaborative campus culture through strong communication and shared leadership
Prior to her current role, Ms. Priestly spent a decade as a Reading Assistance Program Teacher and Dyslexia Therapist at Redwater ISD. She played a key role in redesigning the district's dyslexia program to align with evolving state standards and has consistently championed literacy and equitable learning opportunities.
Her early career included teaching second and fourth grade—including Gifted & Talented instruction—at Liberty-Eylau ISD and Texarkana Arkansas School District. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from LSU-Shreveport and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Lamar University.
