Math 8 (Pre-Algebra) Course Description Math 8 (Pre-Algebra) prepares students with the skills necessary before taking Algebra 1 (a high school credited course). Students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the following concepts: the properties of mathematics, solving equations and inequalities, rational and irrational numbers, graphing equations and inequalities, proportional and nonproportional relationships, applying algebra to geometry, transformational geometry, functions, data analysis , measurement and personal finance. Students will use graphing calculators in this course. |

Algebra I (8th Grade) Course Description 8th grade Algebra I is an advanced math course (a high school credited course). Students will explore the following concepts: linear expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, exponents, expressions, factoring, quadratic equations, arithmetic and geometric sequences. Students will use technology to model mathematical situations. Algebra I students will take the STAAR 9th grade End of Course (EOC) state assessment. |
