Teachers and students at the Elementary and Middle School grades 2-6 participated in the Finch Robot Loan Program. Our school district applied for the loan program last spring and received a loan of 20 programmable Finch Robots for the 2nd year. In the students' Science and STEAM classes, they learned the basics of coding these robots in a program called Snap. The students used blocks to program their robot to move in several directions, play notes and turn different colors. Second grade learned the basics of coding while drawing and creating dance moves. Third and fourth grades learned how to create different shapes using the blocks. Fifth and sixth grades calculated different speeds of the Finch Robots. Learning about coding and programming will help encourage our students to further their interest in computer sciences.
