We always talk about how summer zips by so rapidly, but summer 2010 truly raced by at warp speed this year. Here we are now, "cocked, locked, and loaded," all ready to start the 2010-2011 school year. One thing that is different about this year is our campus rating. The past couple of years we have flirted with an Exemplary rating, only to miss it by the slightest of margins. However, we finally made it, and are rated by the Texas Education Agency as an Exemplary campus! Congratulations to the faculty and staff for all of their efforts to prepare our students, and to the students themselves for doing such a great job giving it their all to succeed. I couldn't be prouder of all of them, and suffice it to say that we are already making preparations for a repeat performance.
This year we have some new folks at the Middle School that I want to introduce to you. First, in fourth grade, we have Debra Wheeley coming to us from Kilgore, Texas to teach Social Studies. (If her name sounds familiar it's because she's the new superintendent's wife.) Next, in fifth grade, Jamie Guilbeau, who hails from TISD by way of the great state of Louisiana, will be teaching Math. We also have two new ladies who will be teaching in our Special Education department, Jennifer Lancaster who comes over from Pleasant Grove ISD, and Dianna Chambers, another teacher we "borrowed" from TISD. These two ladies will be assisted by another transplanted Cajun, Leisa Gautreaux, a paraprofessional who brings with her several years of Special Education experience. Her compadre will be Paula Weaver, who is not new to the district but is new to the Middle School campus. Finally, Julie Turner, who has worked at the Middle School for several years, takes the helm as the new school secretary. We welcome all of these folks and know that they are going to make us an even better school.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children for another year. We will do our best to take care of them, and see that they receive the finest possible educational experience. If we can be of assistance as the year progresses, please let us know.
Yours for another great year,
Lindsay Crain, Principal
