New RISD Gradebook Viewer for 2008-2009 RISD has a new electronic gradebook viewer called txConnect providing parents instant access to information such as course grades, test and assignment scores, and attendance. Parents and guardians should have received registration information including a Student Portal ID in the mail. If you did not receive the letter or need more information, contact Linda Lowe or Karen Pyle at 903-671-3481.
Flexible School Year
Texas Education Code β29.0821 gives school districts the authority to provide a flexible year program for students. Once again Redwater ISD will participate in the Optional Flexible Year Program. Participation in this program allows us to reduce instructional days for some students while at the same time providing more intense instructional time for other students. Students' instructional days for the current school year could be reduced up to a maximum of 4 days.

FITNESSGRAM During the 80th Legislative Session, Senate Bill 530 was passed, which requires fitness assessment for all students in grades 3 to 12 starting in the 2007-2008 school year. After a thorough review the Texas Education Agency (TEA) identified FITNESSGRAM as the assessment tool to be used by all districts throughout the state.
Redwater ISD is in the process of fulfilling this requirement. Parents/Guardians will receive results of their student's physical assessment.
To learn more about the physical fitness assessment program, visit the FITNESSGRAM website at www.fitnessgram.net/faqparents/.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has created a program that will allow the public to report errors discovered in textbooks and other adopted instructional materials used in Texas classrooms. This program will also provide the public with access to a list of all of the errors discovered.
Students, teachers, parents, and others concerned about the accuracy and quality of textbooks are encouraged to use the email address textbookerrors@tea.state.tx.us to report any errors in fact, misspellings, or other inaccuracies. The TEA will review all reported errors, and list those that are confirmed in the Inventory of Known Textbook Errors posted on the TEA website. For each confirmed error, the TEA will notify both the publisher and each district using the materials, as well as release an announcement via the recently established Textbook Errors mailing list. The TEA will also follow up to ensure that appropriate steps are taken to correct the errors.
